The Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco was the centerpiece of the rather elaborate 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition, created for San Francisco to honor the discovery of the Pacific Ocean and the completion of the Panama Canal. Also celebrated was the rebirth of the city after the 1906 earthquake and fire.
To say the popular attraction today offers photo possibilities is like saying the Pacific has waves. Here's one look.

Thank you, Sharon, for a nice, nice comment. The towering scale of the Palace allows this kind of "pose", of course, and its many shades and colors are a bonus. Picture this same image in a dreary cathedral concrete color and you can see how much these colors add.

This is such a beauty, Don. You captured it at such a great angle. I love the pink hues in the building and with the foliage, gorgeous. Certainly striking and befitting both the discovery of the Pacific Ocean in the same area as the Panama Canal and the completion of the Canal.
