Description
The centerpiece of the rather elaborate 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition in San Francisco was the Palace of Fine Arts. The Exposition was created for San Francisco to honor the discovery of the Pacific Ocean and the completion of the Panama Canal. Also celebrated was the rebirth of the city after the 1906 earthquake and fire. A visit to the palace today almost is a journey to another world, with its many statues seemingly wanting to tell you something about their presence there for nearly a century. In this scene you can see the statues of the three maidens that I have posted here also. If you go, take a camera or paint and easel.
