Description
Beauty may be found even in places heavy with sorrow. Graves in this old cemetery include those of Edmund Randolph, George Washington's Aide-De-Camp (who became the first U.S. attorney general) and many Confederate veterans of the American Civil War. To this day, Confederate flags are placed on some of those graves. Built in 1790, "Old Chapel", the church adjoining this Virginia cemetery, was attended by noted post-Revolutionary War notables.
