Description
The great American sculptor Paul Manship's bronze gilded statue of the Greek mythology legend Prometheus dominates 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. Manship had two models for the statue, which was commissioned in 1933, Raymond Van Cleef and Leonardo Mole, who knew each other from working out in the same New York gym. Prometheus gets credit for bringing fire to the world (no easy trick), and on the wall behind the statue is the inscription "Prometheus, teacher in every art, brought the fire that hath proved to mortals a means to mighty ends", a quote by Greek playwright Aeschylus who may or may not have been the author of the play, Prometheus Bound. This statue is considered by some to be the fourth most recognized statue in the U.S. after the Lincoln Memorial, Mount Rushmore and the Statue of Liberty.

Muchas gracias, mi amiga! I'm so happy that those blue umbrellas were there to add some zap (is that a technical term?). But I wish they'd fix that scratch on the back of his left hand!
